EGOIST – Departures ~Anata ni Okuru Ai no Uta~ | Lyrics Translation

Song: Departures ~Anata ni Okuru AI no Uta~
Artist: EGOIST
Album: Departures ~Anata ni Okuru AI no Uta~
Other: Ending Song for the anime Guilty Crown

mou anata kara aisareru koto mo
hitsuyou to sareru koto mo nai
soshite watashi ha kou shite hitoribocchi de

I’m no longer loved by you,
I’m no longer needed by you.
And thus, just like this…I’m alone…

ano toki anata ha nante itta no?
todokanai kotoba ha chuu wo mau
wakatteru noni kyou mo shiteshimau
kanawanu negai goto wo

What was it that you said back then?
Those words which didn’t reach me now dance in the heavens.
Although I know it very well, I continue
to make a wish that will never come true.

hanasanaide
gyutto te wo nigitteite
anata to futari tsudzuku to itte
tsunaida sono te ha atatakakute
yasashikatta

Don’t let go…
hold my hand tight…
say we’ll continue being together…
our held hands used to be so warm
and so tender.

anata ha itsumo sou yatte
watashi wo okorasete saigo ni nakasunda
dakedo ato ni natte
gomen ne tte iu
sono kao suki datta

You were always like that,
making me angry and in the end, making me cry.
But afterwards
you would apologize…
I loved your face while doing so.

hanasanaide
gyutto sou omoikkiri
anata no ude no naka ni itai
futari de odeko wo awasenagara
nemuru no

Don’t let go…
hold me with all your might…
I want to stay in your arms…
I want us to sleep with our foreheads
together.

mou nido to ha aenai tte koto wo shitteta no?

Did you know we would never see each other again?

hanasanaide
gyutto anata ga suki
mou ichido datte warattekurenai no
anata no nukumori ga kiechau mae ni
dakishimete

Don’t let go…
hold me tightly, I love you…
But you will not smile for me ever again…
so before your warmth disappears,
hold me in your arms.

Awwwww…

Can’t help but imagine a death scene…

It’s like the boy has an uncurable illness that’ll lead to his death, and the girl is sadly staring at her loved one…

    So sad… :((

Hey, I really liked that song, but it was frustrating to know that you can’t sing with it with just a translated version (although honestly, I like the way this was translated ^^).
I have a friend that could sing this, too bad she’s not into fan-dubbing and stuff like that… But still I went through editing your translation into a more sing-able version (in my opinion).

I just followed her tune, the rythm, and how she sang the lyrics with less focus on the actual translation, so translating it back to japanese would be far-off from the original meaning.

I just want people to know that this song is really great and going this far is really worth it…So here it goes, enjoy :)

    ——————————————————————————————–

I no longer need you to love me anymore,
I no longer see me needed by you…
And so I’m like this, yeah just like this…All alone…

What was it that you said back then to me?
Those words which didn’t reach me: lost in mem’ry
Although I know it very well, I press on making a wish
    that won’t come true…

    Don’t let go…
    hold my hand real tight…
    say we’ll continue being together…
our held hands used to be so tender and…
    so warm…

You were always like that to me, you know,
making me angry then making me cry.
    But then after that
    you would apologize…
I loved your face while doing so.

    Don’t ever let go…
hold me with all your might…
I want to stay in your arms…
I want us to sleep with our faces close
    real close

Did you know we would never see each other again?

    Don’t let go…
    hold tightly, I love you…
I’ll never see that smile from your face again…
so before your warmth disappears, would you hold me?
    in your arms.

      That’s pretty good!

Sadly, we don’t have the talent to make the translations flow with the rhythm of the song, so our translation are more about what the lyrics means and we don’t worry about matching them up together.

We aren’t trying to make an English singable version of the lyrics, so our translations will not match up with the songs. However, anyone can use our translation however they see fit, like editing them like you did. We don’t mind, rather, we’re happy you used our translation to help you make a sing-along version!

For the “は” particle, which is indeed pronounced “wa”, we chose to use ‘ha’ instead, the way it is spelled in order for it to show up on IME.

Oh Chelly? but she’s also part of Supercell or not? Now I thought it was Ryo.

    • Suisei says:

supercell doesn’t have a fixed singer per se, so I can’t say if each singer is part of supercell. But I think you can call her part of it…at least, for now.

I always thought supercell was a ryo & nagi combination, but that has been proven wrong. lol

I know Ryo is the composer for much of the best anime music in our times, but I have a rather silly question: Is he a male or female? I always thought he/she was a man for some reason, but since someone thought he/she sang the lyrics I got confused.

I don’t even know what supercell is anymore, can it be called a band when most of the members are designers? Is anything that Ryo composes part of supercell?

        January 24, 2012 - Reply
        • Suisei says:

          ryo is male.

As for what he does in supercell, he composes the music and lyrics of all the songs.

Hi. I’ve been working on a singable version based on the translations provided here and the work done by elven_cloaked. This is what I’ve come up with for the whole song. :)

If anyone decides to make a song cover of it, I’d love to know. :)

    Departures (Cover)

I do not need that love you gave to sustain me anymore
In the same way that I’m no longer the one that you need
And because of all of this, I’m standing here alone, just like this.

What were those words you said back to me way back when
The words that never reached me now dance in the heavens
Though I know it very well, I press on and continue
To make a wish that will never come true

    Don’t ever let me go
My dear, and tightly hold my hand
Just say you’ll stay by my side, and we’ll be together
So now our hands which held each other tenderly and warm
    They no longer touch…

You were the one who’d always make me angry with sorrow
And in the end you’d be the one who’d make my tears flow
But then afterwards, you’d come back,
    apologize and I’d
love your face, repentant and sad.

    Don’t ever let me go
My love, hold me with all your might
I want to stay inside those arms of yours so tight
The two of us would lie close to each other, foreheads pressed
    Don’t let me go….

(Oh) Did you know that we would never see each other again?

Don’t ever let me go, my dear. I love you. Hold me tight.
I know your smile won’t be for me ever again.
Before you go, I want to know your warmth just one more time…
So hold me in your arms…

as suisei said in the comments before, ‘ha’ is sometimes pronounced as ‘wa’ (or when it is the subject marker eg watashi ha inu desu – i am a dog :P)

      and i cant stop thinking of Hare when I listen to this ;_;

      May 14, 2013 - Reply
    • Erucia says:

Actually, ‘wa’, when used to connect the relationship between the subject and a type of description of the state of the subject, it is written in hiragana as ‘ha’, not ‘wa’. This distinguishes the particle ‘wa’ with the syllable ‘wa’, as in ‘watashi’. Particles are used similarly to how prepositions are used in English.
So what is pronounced as “watashi wa kou shite hitoribocchi de”
      is written as
“watashi ha kou shite hitoribocchi de”

Well,I see you’re all confused about supercell,Egoist and Ryo.It’s not a big deal,I was also confused by Ryo’s gender or singers in supercell.Supercell is a japanese band which consists of Ryo(a genious composer) and 10 illustrators. They started with posting songs(sung by Hatsune Miku) on Nico Nico Douga.Their popularity raised so they realesed an independent self-tittled album Supercell(2008).Later the group signed to Sony Music Entertainment and had a professional release of their album in 2009,updated with more songs.
And now my favorite part:Yanagi Nagi started to post cover versions and her original songs online since 2005 under the name CorLeonis. Then she released some albums and formed a duo with Annabel(also famous japanese singer, she did ending songs for Another and SankaRea).Yanagi Nagi fell in love with Ryo’s songs so she did cover of “Melt” in 2007 roughly the next day after Ryo posted supercell’s first song on Nico Nico Douga. She contacted Ryo and they started talking about collaborations.Ryo, who had been a fan of Yanagi’s voice even before uploading his own songs to Nico Nico Douga approached her to sing the vocals for Supercell’s debut single “Kimi no Shiranai Monogatari” (2009). Yanagi continued as the vocalist of Supercell until 2011, and in that time provided vocals for two more singles in 2010—”Sayonara Memories” and “Utakata Hanabi / Hoshi ga Matataku Konna Yoru ni”—and Supercell’s second studio album Today Is A Beautiful Day (2011).She then left supercell because she wanted to achieve her solo career.Supercell held auditions from May 25 to June 19, 2011 for a guest vocalist. The main criteria for the vocalist was his or her voice, as Supercell was not concerned with the singer’s gender or age.Out of about 2,000 candidates, two girls were chosen: a 15-year-old named Koeda(now 17) and a 17-year-old named Chelly(now 19).The theme songs for the 2011 anime series Guilty Crown were produced by Supercell. The band’s fourth single “My Dearest” is sung by Koeda and the song was used as the anime’s first opening theme.Chelly sings under the band name Egoist after the fictional band in Guilty Crown, and her debut single is “Departures (Anata ni Okuru Ai no Uta)”.
As you can see, both Chelly and Koeda are still with supercell only Chelly sing by the band Egoist.
More details you can find on Wikipedia.
And I forgot to say that Ryo is a male! xD
    Hope you understand now ^^

another lyrics that ive found dunno if its the right 1??

Departures ~Anata ni Okuru Ai no Uta~ English Lyrics
I watch your silhouette disappear as you walk away
The pain in my chest says it’s over; the love cannot stay
The air is sharp and cold now that those days are old
    I’m alone

Upon my lips is a whisper from the depths of my soul
Without you I feel incomplete; ‘Cause of you, there’s a hole
I wish one day it could be and you’re standing next to me
This little wish I’ve kept in my heart

Please take my hand and don’t let go
I wish that you could stay
Just please promise me that you’ll never go away
This feeling is something I wish could last for an eternity
    You’re my everything

Too many times we’ve fought and hurt each other beyond repair
Too many times I’ve cried for you, no this can’t be fair
Even then you always seemed to try to make it up to me
With just that, I fell for you
    Ahh~

Please take my hand and don’t let go
    I want us to be
I feel my heart tear in two when you’re not here with me
When it’s just us the world seems to come to a complete stop
    Am I dreaming?

The past is lost yet the future is free. We don’t have to be separated!
    Ahhh~ Aaahh~

Please take my hand and don’t let go
    You are my everything
Perhaps these feelings of mine aren’t meant to be
But all that I want is just to see your smile once more
    Just be with me
