BONNIE PINK – Kane wo Narashite | Lyrics Translation

Song: Kane wo Narashite
Artist: BONNIE PINK
Album: Kane wo Narashite
Other: Theme song for the game Tales of Vesperia

kimi to hanarete boku wo sagashite
ikusen no yoru wo aruita
nani wo mezashite dare wo shinjite
chikatte ha mata yuraida

Separated from you, I start to search
and I’ve walked past thousands of nights.
What do I have my aim at, who do I believe in?
My vow is once again wavering.

yuuyami ni ha kiba wo mukedo tsuyokunai sou tsuyoku ha nai
kimi ni sei wo mukete hisahiku manten no hoshizora ga sabishii

I bare my fangs to the darkness but I’m not strong, yes there’s no strength.
For a long time, I face towards your figure, realizing the starry sky is lonesome.

hikari ha kage no kage ha hikari no
hate made tsuite yuku no darou
boku ga waratte ikiteita no nara
kane wo narashite kimi ni shirase you

Light is dark and dark is light.
Until the end, they’ll follow each other right.
Because I’m living happily,
I’ll ring the bell, so you can take notice.

yurushita mono to yurusareta mono ha
onaji kizu wake atte
omote to ura no kanashimi ha itsuka
rakuen de iyasareru

The forgiven and the forgiver
both share the same wounds.
The surface and the underside of sadness will someday
be healed in paradise.

asa mo ya ni kodamasuru kane tookunai sou tooku ha nai
kimi ga kimi rashiku aru koto sore ha mata kodoku tomo iu

Into the morning haze, I ring a bell but it doesn’t go far, yes it doesn’t go so far.
You are just like you are…but that can also be called isolation.

hikari ha kage no kage ha hikari no
hate made tsuite yuku no darou
kumo ga kagette sora ga naitara
kane wo narashite kimi wo sagasu yo

Light is dark and dark is light.
Until the end, they’ll follow each other right.
The clouds cast a shadow, and as the sky cries,
I’ll ring the bell, and set out to find you.

sekai ha shiro ka kuroi heiwa ka arasoi
heads or tails you and I light and dark ups and downs
sono mannaka de bokutachi ha itsuka deai te wo tsunagu darouka

The world is black and white, peaceful and hostile,
heads or tails, you and I, light and dark, ups and downs…
Within the center of it all, we’ll one day meet and join hands right?

hikari ha kage no kage ha hikari no
hate made tsuite yuku no darou
boku ga waratte ikiteita no nara
kane wo narashite kimi ni shirase you

Light is dark and dark is light.
Until the end, they’ll follow each other right.
Because I’m living happily,
I’ll ring the bell, so you can take notice.

    Awesome! Thanks a lot!
I was just listening to this from the Tales of Vesperia OP and I really liked the song but couldn’t hear what it was saying.

Hey, thanks! I just wanted to make a couple of suggestions for improvement/correction….

First, all the lone “ha”s are actually wa when spoken, though written は instead of わ because は is for the PARTICLE wa so it might be a good idea to change those to wa in the translation. In Romaji it’s written how it’s said, not just romanizing the japanese characters litterally. That’ll prevent people from singing those parts as ha instead! XD

Lastly, “sono mannaka de bokutachi ha itsuka deai te wo tsunagu darouka” if it ends in ka, it’s almost ALWAYS a question! I think she’s saying something like “There in the middle we will someday join hands, right?” Darou is an ending used in questions that are really statements but requesting ascent from the listener, not even as if the speaker is unsure of the truth of their statement, just asking the other person to agree with them. The Darou makes me think that’s what this sentence really means.

Anyway, great job on the translation! Thank you SO much!!

@Snowpaw: You’re right about the ‘ha’/'wa’ particle, and it would be a good idea to change them. But if I do, I’ll get used to writing ‘ha’ as ‘wa’, even in Japanese…>_>

If I do, a sentence would look like this:

    絵を描く.

And you’re also right about the “darouka” part. Thanks for pointing that out! ^_^

Usually they change the lyrics for the English version so that it would match the rhythm of the original Japanese song.

Thanks for the above lyrics in romanji.

I tried to make the words sync as close to the lyrics as possible (I hope you like it):

Separated from you, I started searching
A thousand nights I have walked
What am I seeking for, who should I believe?
My vow is once again wavering.

In the darkness my fangs are bared
But strong I’m not, Stronger I am not.
Seeing your back after a long time…
Realising the starry skies is also lonely.

Light is shadows and shadow is light
Until the end they will follow each other.
If I’m joyfully living then I will
Bell I’ll ring and let you know.

    Forgiver and the forgiveness seeker
Same scars are what they share.
The surface and the underside of sadness will someday
    In paradise be relieved.

The morning mist has resonance of a bell
Faraway it is not, too faraway it is not.
You liking yourself more is true then
That also means loneliness I think.

Light is shadows and shadow is light
Until the end they will follow each other.
Clouds have shadowed, sky is crying
Bell I’ll ring, You I will search for.

World is white or black, at peace or at war,
Heads or tails, you and I
Light and dark, ups and downs
In the middle of this we will,
Someday hold hands together, wont we?

Light is shadows and shadow is light
Until the end they will follow each other.
    If I’m joyfully living then I will…
Bell I’ll ring and let you know.
